Set Default Finder Window Size In Mac OS X, Here’s How By Paul Morris August 10th, 2015 Finder is undoubtedly one of the most commonly used applications within Mac OS X. Finder affords you the ability to navigate through all of the files and folders that are stored on your machine.
You click on the little triangle in the window's lower, right-hand corner and drag it down and to right to make the window larger—that's its resizer. Adjust it to the size you want it. Or, just click on the green button (upper left) and it will resize to show the contents, subject to the screen size, dock location, and the upper menu bar. Then, close the window, double-click on the disk icon, and it should remember its last size and position. IIRC, that information is retained in the invisible .DS_Store file. If it doesn't work, then come back and I'll tell you how to delete it, so the next time you open the window, the system will rebuild a new one.
